In 2009, the EFM developed the initiative Meet the Docs, specifically dedicated to the documentary industry. The successfully inaugurated initiative will be continued at the EFM 2010 in collaboration with the European Documentary Network (EDN), which stimulates and creates networks within the documentary sector in Europe.
As a central connection platform, Meet the Docs aims to promote networking and exchange among buyers, sellers, directors and producers of documentaries. At the EFM 2010, the Meet the Docs Stand was located in the Martin-Gropius-Bau Gallery.

In 2010, the new series "Meet the Makers" presented directors, producers and other professionals who have been involved in remarkable documentaries.
