India is the world’s largest producer of films. Roughly 1800 films in about eight Indian languages are made every year, grossing approximately $3 billion in revenues. To add to this, there are fast growing segments of streaming, animation, visual effects, gaming, virtual production, digital content, music, advertising, broadcasting and news. The overall size of Indian media and entertainment industry is $30 billion and it is growing at a fast pace with estimates of becoming nearly $100 billion by 2030.
To showcase the growing prowess of Indian creative content globally, India has been participating in international film festivals in a big way. This year marks 75 years of India’s Independence and 100 years of the doyen of Indian cinema – Satyajit Ray.
The Inaugural Session of India @ Berlinale 2022 will showcase the potential of India for global investors; provide a glimpse of the rich cinema of India; and set the tone for six days of virtual sessions, film screenings, networking meetings and much more at Virtual India Pavilion 2022. The session will also feature the stars of India’s entry in Berlinale World Premiere section, Hindi film Gangubai Kathiawadi.
