3rd European Film Politics Seminar

Berlinale Industry Events

Festival Screening Mon Mar 01 11:00 – 12:30 Download

This participatory session (by invitation only) is dedicated to an exploration and reflexion of the fact that investment obligations and levies, as made possible through the Audiovisual and Media Services Directive (AVMS Directive) and already implemented in several European countries, need to be accompanied by sustainable contractual practices. Governing the collaboration between independent producers and streaming services is key to ensure the position of independent producers as a driving force of the film industry.

The hand-picked attendees include national and European policy-makers, heads of film and audiovisual agencies, independent producers, representatives of streaming platforms, regulatory authorities and other key industry figures.

The 3rd European Film Politics Seminar is hosted by the European Film Market of the Berlinale, organised by EPC - the European Producers Club and Produzentenverband - the German Producers Association, with the support of EFAD - the association of national Film Agencies in Europe, and Doreen Boonekamp - Advisory & Consultancy. This Seminar will link back to the 1st edition of the European Film Politics Seminar in February 2020 in Berlin and the 2nd edition in September 2020 in Venice.
