The Annecy Animation Showcase will introduce five carefully selected feature films notable for strong creative vision, international co-production frameworks, and clear market appeal.
The lineup includes A Door to the Woods, a visually driven project by artist and VFX director Jola Kudela, produced by Polish production company Opus Film, exploring memory, trauma, and generational legacy. The film stands as a beacon of hope for a generation steadfast in their pursuit of equality, freedom of expression, and resistance to political oppression ; Granny is a Tree!, director Hugo de Faucompret’s new feature after Mum is Pouring Rain, an emotionally resonant and accessible feature blending realism and magic, produced by leading independent companies Laïdak Films, Dandelooo,, Doghouse Films and MouMoush – The King of Plastic, the highly anticipated new feature from the team behind Ruben Brandt, combining fairy-tale elements, time travel, environmental themes, and Milorad Krstic’s distinctive humor. The lineup also presents Pesta, a romantic horror by Hanne Berkaak produced by the Oscar-winning, auteur-driven studio Mikrofilm. A journey into genre filmmaking for young adult audiences in search of powerful narratives grounded in breathtaking folklore ; and ZAKO, a World War II–set drama based on a true story, told through the eyes of a painter and realized through an innovative animation technique, co-produced by Armenia’s OnOff Animation, France’s Sacrebleu Productions, and Lithuania’s Broom Films.
Together, these works offer an exclusive preview of tomorrow's animated features, with strong auteur identities and international market potential, reinforcing the festival and market's shared commitment to facilitate early market exposure, international sales, distribution opportunities, and festival positioning.
