Join the creator, director, producer, and commissioning editor of the German mystery series House of Yang for an in depth conversation about the making of this haunting, multi generational story.
Set between 1949 and 1999 in a secluded corner of the Black Forest, House of Yang follows Jessie as she inherits a family home marked by the disappearance of two girls—decades apart, yet mysteriously connected. As Jessie and her daughter Mila are drawn into the house’s unsettling pull, long-buried tensions within their German Chinese family resurface, forcing them to confront the unresolved conflicts and inherited traumas that echo through generations.
In this session, the creative team explores how the series blends creeping horror with questions of identity, cultural heritage, and the patterns we unknowingly inherit. How do personal and collective histories haunt us? And can we ever break free from the shadows of the past?
Expect insights into the show’s narrative design, visual world-building, production challenges, and the emotional and cultural depth at the centre of House of Yang—a series where mystery becomes a mirror, and identity a haunted landscape.
