Think Tank Session: Generative AI in the Film & Series Industry

Berlinale Industry Events

Access: By invitation only

Sun Feb 18 10:00 – 12:00 EFM / Gropius Bau
on-site only

The last 18 months saw generative AI rise to one of the most impactful new technologies that will shape the realities of work across nearly all industries and fields touched by information technology. Ever since the WGA and SAG strikes have some of the implications of the new technology come into focus. Usage of AI in pre-production and conceptualisation, in scriptwriting, in casting and performance, postproduction and in distribution are no longer potential, they quickly became fact with the rise of new AI-powered tools and powerful LLMs like ChatGPT and Midjourney.

What do the developments of the last months mean for the direction the industry will take? And what are consensus or points of contention between professionals around some of the questions raised by these developments?

As a platform for discussion between the 40 participants from different parts of the film and TV industry, the Think Tank Session aims to produce an overview of challenges and opportunities of generative AI. The implications and applications for creative processes, training of new and existing talent, the animation sector as well as legal aspects will be at the forefront of discussions.

The session provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, share experience, and contribute meaningfully to the current discourse.

By invitation only.
