The Bundesarchiv’s "Digital Reading Room" went live at the beginning of 2024. Users can now search the Federal Archives' complete database with filmographic and holdings information on over 336,000 film works.

In addition, more than 2,200 titles are initially available for streaming, with many more to be added in the future, copyright permitting. The collection includes early German feature films and documentaries from the Weimar period, rare films from the "State Film Documentation of the GDR" and German newsreels from the Second World War and after 1945.

This offer is an important step towards creating an open and accessible archive for filmmakers, curators and the public.

The Federal Archives invite you to browse through our new platform, its functionalities and use cases as well as future updates.

Last but not least, we welcome you to celebrate this milestone together in a relaxed atmosphere rounding off the 2024 Archive Market!

Please be advised that attendance is limited, and entry will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you.
